Think Spring!

As our weather unit comes to an end we would love to have some spring weather so we can get outside to observe the clouds! I hope next week we will get a change to observe and collect some data on spring weather! In Writing, we are working on our final informational piece. Everyone used their research to make a plan for their book. We are moving now into completing illustrations and matching our writing to our plan. The topics are so interesting! We will be working on editing and finalizing these pieces over the next few weeks. Our writing is getting better every day. In some of the pictures below you will see us spreading out our plans and really getting into our writing. We have moved into Chapter 9 in math. This chapter helps us compare and order numbers. We played a number ordering game to get us started with the chapter. We have been practicing how to find 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, and 1 less than any given number. During our math station we have continued to work on place value! In reading we continue to work with informational text. We have been learning the elements of a good non-fiction retell. Ask your child what is included in a five finger retell! We have just started to work with post-it's during reading. We use post-its to write down tricky words so we can conference about them with our partner or teacher. We are working on building reading stamina and our morning reading time is very relaxing and productive! We were able to see the 5th grade musical this week! The class LOVED it! We also had an author visit from Steve Swinburne. What an awesome presentation! Below are some pictures from the past two weeks including our "Eating of the Greens" celebration! There are also dome of our sensory break dance party pictures! Have a great weekend! If you would like to help us replenish some of our supplies here are a few things we need: yellow post-its glue sticks plain wood pencils fin tip crayola markers
